Bryan G Hall were instructed by the client to project manage highway elements of a new retail scheme located to the north of Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The instruction involved undertaking various tasks during pre-commencement phase, during the tender phase and construction phase.

During the Pre-Commencement Phase, Bryan G Hall were required obtain statutory undertakers diversion costs and negotiate with statutory undertakers to agree extent of necessary diversion works and manage the diversion works to ensure works are undertaken as programmed and on budget. Representatives from the design team attended design team meetings prior to start on site, and liaised with the highway authority to agree traffic management proposals.

During the tender phase, Bryan G Hall prepared contract documents (NEC 3 – Short From, produced a specification, assisted the cost consultant  with highway related tender queries and attended the tender review meeting along with attendance at the pre-qualification interviews with the preferred contractor.

During the construction phase, Bryan G Hall were involved in undertaking a site supervisor role on behalf of the client to ensure the works are constructed in compliance with the approved drawings and to liaise with the contractor to ensure the works are constructed to budget and on programme. This role included among other tasks, the attendance at contractor progress meetings, attendance at design team progress meetings, attend pre-start and substantial completion inspection with the Contractor and Highway Authority.
